What does it mean to EMBODY mutual aid?
Many of us are committed to mutual aid. But just because we believe in the principle of something does not mean it is easy - or sometimes even possible - in practice.
We’ve all been shaped by social conditions, in different ways. Sometimes these differences can bud heads with each other making organizing collectively feel difficult, or even unsafe to our nervous systems.
Some of us are good at asking for help and receiving support, and some of us have learned to stay self-sufficient or small. Connection might feel too vulnerable, or it might be all we know, and come at the expense of ourselves- with no mututality. Whether we value it or not, individualism lives deeply in many of our bodies and shapes many of our relationships.
Somatics allows us to notice default embodied patterns and practice something different.

FAQs
Is this a therapy group?
Somatics is known for its effectiveness at healing trauma, but that is not a focus of this course. Though there will be therapeutic value in attending these classes, it is not a therapy group and is not an adequate substitute for therapy. The focus is on cultivating new skills and capacities through somatic awareness and practice.
How much does it cost?
I’m offer this course at a sliding scale of $300-600. There is limited availability for the lower end of the scale, so please only choose that option if you are unable to afford the true cost of $450.
Will sessions be recorded?
Session will not be recorded. It is necessary to attend live so that we can build connection with each other. There is a bit of teaching and demo, but most of the session will live embodiment practices in pairs or together as a group. So for the sake of privacy and to ensure a sense of safety, sessions are not recorded. If you need to miss a session, please let me know ahead of time so we can make arrangements.
Will a portion of the proceeds be donated to mutual aid?
Yes. 10% of the course cost will go directly to mutual aid efforts. If the sliding scale tips toward the higher end, all of the excess will go to mutual aid. We will decide as a group where to direct the funds based on what is most strategic at the time of donation.
